CHARLTON v GILLINGHAM 13.02.21

I reckon tomorrow the Addicks stand a good chance at beating Gillingham, we looked really good vs Rochdale and much more solid defensively than we have been recently which is a big positive and hopefully gave the defenders a big boost in confidence, Aneke should also start which is rare due to his fitness issues but I think the week break should be good enough for him. Him and Stockley are starting to build a good partnership. I’d likely expect a similar lineup to the one which played Rochdale with the exception of Jake Forster-Caskey which I personally think is going to be a very big miss for us as he’s been in superb form. Jaiyesimi could be handed his first start vs Gillingham which would be exciting, he had a 15 minute cameo against Rochdale which was very promising.

With Akin Famewo returning I reckon if we can get 2 wins on the bounce this could be a turning point in our season and we can make a play off push.

Despite our form being quite poor Gillingham’s isn’t a lot better so I reckon we can come out 2-0 winners in this game.

Charlton away at the valley 3pm kick off on a Saturday afternoon, it’s always a interesting and close game when we play the Addicks.

This a fixture Most fans look out for on Release day and it always had a great atmosphere, it feels like a local derby but I can’t lie it’s really not the same when you are at home stuck behind the screen of the tv watching the match.

Last time the two sides met at The MEMS Priestfield Stadium back in November the points were shared in a 1-1 draw in the early kick off down in Kent. Jordan Graham put us into the lead from the penalty Spot in the (73’ minute but it was Chuks Aneke who snatched a point for the visitors in the (82’) minute.

Since then both sides have clearly had their ups and downs in the league and the Gills are heading into this fixture after a 0-3 Hammering to the league leaders Lincoln City last Friday night. Sadly it was on Sky so the world could see it! So we will definitely be looking to get back to winning ways and restore some pride today.

The hosts do come into this Classic Encounter after a 0-2 win away at Rochdale on Tuesday Night, but getting into the predictions now and looking at both sides recent results I think it will be a very interesting and tough match, but I think Gills will find a way to come out 1-2 winners!
