PORTSMOUTH vs GILLINGHAM 27.02.21
Pompey got a brilliant win on Saturday against play off contenders Oxford, 0-1 victory courtesy of a Harvey White header, the Tottenham loanee scoring the first goal of his senior career, on what was also his first start in professional football. We have to capitalise on that win against Gillingham on Saturday, and not slip up at the hands of another club that we really should be getting three points against if we want to be serious contenders for the top two places. In the reverse fixture, John Marquis and Michael Jacobs netted fine finishes to secure a 0-2 win for Pompey. However the former is ruled out with a hamstring injury, and top goal scorer Marquis didn’t even start at the KASSAM.
With fixtures coming thick and fast and squad rotation being necessary at the moment, it’s hard to say who will get the nod up front. Ellis Harrison had another relatively uneventful game himself, it was his make shift strike partner Ronan Curtis that caused the most problems up front, being converted from a left winger to a striker role. I’m predicting those two will keep their places up front, with the only change I’m predicting will be Ryan Williams on the right to come in for Marcus Harness.
Another must win game for Pompey if we want to keep the automatic promotion hopes alive, I’m going for another 2-0 win against the Gills!
