Manchester United face the in form West Ham United in the FA Cup on Tuesday 9th February at 19:30. I am predicting a good game between these two sides with lots of goals! Both teams are capable of hitting the back of the net. Manchester United have twelve goals in their last three games where as West Ham have four.
Manchester United progressed to the fifth round with a stunning forth round tie against the Premier League holders, Liverpool. Salah took the lead with a delicate chip before Marcus Rashford and Mason Greenwood combined to score two goals and fire us into the lead. Later on, Salah fired home the equaliser at Old Trafford, but in the end it was a phenomenal free kick from Bruno Fernandes that won the game for the Red Devils. As for West Ham United, it was their 4-0 thrashing of Doncaster Rovers that booked them a place in the fifth round.
West Ham new star man Tomas Soucek was set to be banned after a debatable red card from Mike Dean that was given for an accidental elbow in to the face of a Fulham player even after a VAR check (no way it was a red). West Ham have appealed and will probably win the debate. Man United loanee, Jesse Lingard, is not eligible to play against his parent club which is frustrating for the Hammers. If Soucek was to be banned it would be a massive blow for West Ham as they could miss two star men. In the premier league fixture Soucek was the man to put West Ham into the lead after a tap in at the back post before Manchester United did a signature comeback to win the game 3-1 at the London Stadium.
This game will be played at Old Trafford. Manchester United have no confirmed injuries or suspensions, however Paul Pogba and Eric Bailly have both picked up injuries and will most probably sit this one out. I reckon Ole Gunnar Solksjær may play some different faces to the ones we saw in the 3-3 draw against Everton. In this Premier League fixture, Ole Gunnar Solksjær attempted to rest Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford but he was forced to bring the duo on as United were struggling against a mighty Hammers side.
David Moyes will be hoping for a sweet return to Old Trafford and will push for a win! It never worked out for him while he managed United but he has been flying with West Ham.
The one weakness of this Manchester United side is their defence. Victor Lindelof is incredibly slow and is a liability. Ole will be hoping that Ed Woodward can let him buy a quick centre back such as Upamencano or Koundé. With Eric Bailly out, we probably will play those two centre backs meaning quick West Ham striker Michael Antonio could cause them problems.
My predictions for this game is a 2-0 win for Manchester United but it will be tight. West Ham attack well but The 0-0 draw against Fulham is a game they should be scoring in. I reckon United will just edge it. Come on United!
Manchester United vs West Ham, The Reds vs the Clarets, Solksjær vs Moyes. Can’t wait!!!
