BARNSLEY V BIRMINGHAM 06.3.21
It’s been a perfect season, so far for Barnsley since Valerien Ismaël took charge of The Tykes. Before former head coach Gerhard Struber departed for New York, Barnsley were without a win and sat in the relegation zone. Since arriving at South Yorkshire, the Frenchman has took the tykes to 7th place, with 54 points on the board.
Heading into this one, against Birmingham City, the reds are on a great run of form, winning their last 6 championship games and unbeaten in the last 8! They’ll look to extend this run. The Blues head into this one, unbeaten in the last two after a draw on Tuesday night and a win last Saturday against QPR. However, they are in that relegation battle sitting in 21st position and could end up in the relegation zone if they fail to win (depending on other results).
Barnsley will be without left back Ben Williams and defend Liam Kitching for this one who both miss out through injury however Valerian Ismaël is expected to have a full fit squad. Manager Aitor Karanka is unlikely to make any changes to the team that played the mid-week clash against Huddersfield. He has a full squad at his disposal.
Barnsley are odds-on favorites to win this fixture. Their current form is second to none in the league. No team have picked more points than Barnsley in their last six games in the league.
Birmingham City are expected to have a hard time at Oakwell. A draw against Barnsley would be a good result for the visitors given their position in the division. With the season coming to its final third, Birmingham desperately need a good run of results to escape relegation.
Today we face Barnsley In a Big game for the blues, Barnsley Obviously On a superb Run And chasing Play offs It will be an extremely tough one but with the run of games we have with 5 of the next 6 team in are next 6 games being In the top 7 it will be extremely tough to get points on the board. We need to start pulling out shock defeats if we are to still be in this league next season. We are currently 3 points of relegation but the teams below have games one in hand.
Birmingham have been on a decent run as well so i wouldn’t count us out and that is why I am feeling rather confident & I’m going to predict a 3-1 win To the Blues
